Meat consumption in Germany is at half-mast, with outbreaks of Covid in slaughterhouses and scandalous production conditions. In French-speaking Switzerland, the situation is reassuring: quality is up to scratch, and animals are generally well respected. But there's a flip side to the coin: labels are flourishing, and Swiss consumers are sometimes at a loss to find their way around. Overzealousness or all-out marketing? Will legislation be necessary?
