Iodine or selenium deficiency

You may be familiar with the expressions "cretin des Alpes" or "goiterux du Valais". Until the early 20th century, these expressions were the result of iodine deficiency, which mainly affected people living in the Alpine valleys. Nowadays, this deficiency, which had disappeared, is tending to reappear slightly in our regions.
