Allotment gardens, lʹappel de la terre
Légende
A century ago, these were plots allocated to workers on the outskirts of towns to improve their daily lives with vegetables and fruit they grew. Today, allotment gardens are mostly small green spaces, places of leisure or even laboratories for social experimentation, where all the communities that make up Switzerland exchange views on their tomatoes and strawberries. The Jardins du Chatelard, founded 60 years ago and covering more than 10,000 square meters, account for a third of all gardens in Lausanne. For a week, Vacarme takes a closer look at these paradoxical spaces where lʹalimentation and living together are questioned with every spade stroke.
