Roma, a voice that counts

"For more than five centuries, the Roma have faced discrimination, rejection, social exclusion and marginalization of a widespread and persistent character, throughout the world and in all areas of life." This sad observation was made almost ten years ago by the United Nations Human Rights Council. Today, 80% of the Roma - who make up the largest ethnic minority on European soil - live below the poverty line, and many stereotypes about them persist.
