In March 1962, the signing of the Evian Agreements paved the way for Algeria's independence. These agreements were the fruit of intense negotiations and secret discussions, thanks in particular to Swiss diplomacy. This week, we take a look at the key role played by Switzerland in this matter, the Confederation's involvement, but also its ambiguity with regard to its compatriots who had settled in French Algeria since the second half of the 19th century, and who formed a "paracolony"
