On May 10, 1923 in Lausanne, Moritz Conradi shot Soviet diplomat Worowski seven times. The murderer, who had grown up in a family of Swiss emigrants in St. Petersburg and then fought in the Tsar's troops, was thus carrying out an anti-Bolshevik revenge. Conradi's acquittal provoked intense diplomatic tensions.
