In 1944, a number of challenges lay ahead for Switzerland: with the advantage of the Allies in the West, who landed in Normandy and Provence, and the ferocious military pressure of the Soviet Union in the East, the Germany of the Third Reich was caught between two hostile fronts. Is the small Swiss enclave, despite its neutrality, not likely to end up engulfed in this war that is closing in on its borders once again?
