To celebrate this event, there's nothing like a piece of cheese, since in 2020, per capita consumption in Switzerland rose by 5.5%, to an average of 23.1 kg. Recently, the American courts caused an uproar back home when they ruled that the term Gruyère had become "generic" in the USA, and was therefore no longer reserved for products originating in Switzerland.
