What to do with our nuclear waste?

June 14, 2016: parliament decides to extend by four years the ten-year moratorium adopted in 2006 as part of the new Federal Law on Nuclear Energy (LENu). This moratorium excludes the export of radioactive waste produced in Switzerland. But what to do with it, and how best to manage waste with a half-life of up to 4.5 billion years for some of it (uranium 238)? Should they be buried in deep geological strata, the safest and most sustainable solution according to the authorities?
