Switzerland is not immune to power cuts in the next few years, the Federal Council has warned. To avoid such a scenario, various avenues are being explored. Some elected representatives, for example, are questioning the nuclear phase-out. For its part, the Confederation is seriously considering the construction of back-up gas-fired power plants.
