Restoring biodiversity in oil palm plantations through agroforestry

Oil palm monoculture is an ecological disaster in terms of deforestation and biodiversity loss. A study carried out on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, and published in the journal "Nature", demonstrates that the use of lʹagroforestry, planting islands of local trees in the heart of already existing palm plantations, would make it possible to limit the damage caused by this type of intensive cultivation.
