Optogenetic control of neurons

Controlling neurons in the spinal cord with light, thatʹs what scientists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne are proposing. The principle, known as lʹoptogenetics, involves installing an implant in the spinal column that enables certain neurons to be activated or inhibited according to specific needs. This technique could help victims of spinal cord injury.
