Naming places

Our world is full of place-names, names of regions, villages, valleys. Does naming a place matter? Is there a proper way to do it? And who does it? To make this questioning visible, a new UNESCO Chair in inclusive toponymy is being created at the University of Geneva: "Dénommer le Monde".
