The geometric mechanics of the dog nose
Légende
A team of scientists from the lʹUniversité de Genève has conducted a study into the unique patterns present on the nose of dogs. Using advanced imaging techniques and computer simulations, the researchers observed uneven growth between the epidermis and dermis, the two main layers of the skin. This disparate growth is responsible for the small, repetitive domes that form the distinctive patterns on the truffle, similar to human fingerprints.
