Probiotics against pneumonia

Replacing antibiotics with probiotics to combat certain diseases that affect the lungs is the avenue raised in a new study conducted at lʹUniversité de Genève. Researchers investigated the role of lung microbiota against pneumococcus, a bacterium responsible for many flu-associated infections, such as pneumonia. They found that Lactobacillus murinus inhibited the growth of these pneumococci.
