Assessing the risk of collapse after an earthquake

Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne have developed a method for determining whether a building is at risk of collapse in the event of aftershocks. A tool that could prove useful even in Switzerland, where 80% of buildings do not meet the paraseismic standards that came into force in 1989.
