Why will some cantons switch to the Reform and others not?

On the eve of the Reformation, many of them were already highly autonomous from the powers of the bishops. While the question of the indulgence trade was preponderant in Germany, criticism of mercenary service was to play a key role in whether or not the new faith was adopted.
