What's the point of coprophagia?

It's more common in the animal world than you might think! The case of herbivores is interesting; when eating plants, herbivores don't manage to recover all the positive elements, such as proteins and mineral salts on the first digestive pass, which is why they have to be allowed to re-eat the wet droppings. Where does this behavior come from in dogs?
