Seasonal workers' children hidden in Switzerland after the Schwarzenbach initiative

50 years ago, Switzerland voted on the Schwarzenbach initiative. The text "against foreign domination" was narrowly defeated, but it left a lasting mark on our migration policy. Since the 1960s, thousands of immigrants' children have lived in hiding, as family reunification has been forbidden.
