Africa, 300,000 years of human diversity

Homo sapiens is of African origin. This is a truth that genetics has long since validated, and one that implies others. While some small groups left Africa around 120,000 years ago to populate the rest of the world, Homo sapiens lived for 200,000 years on this continent alone. As a result, it has enormous genetic diversity, far richer than any other continent.
