The Rif revolt: the end of Moroccan exceptionalism?

Morocco is living to the rhythm of a major popular protest in the Rif region. Long marginalized, historically rebellious and predominantly Berber, this poor territory in the north of the country is thus back in the spotlight, half a century after the events that saw the Moroccan army violently suppress the slightest hotbed of revolt.
