Quand l'histoire s'emballe - Benjamin Constant, a privileged witness
Légende
By turns observer, actor, author and thinker, Benjamin Constant was closely involved in one of the most turbulent periods in European history: the French Revolution, then the Directoire, Empire and Restoration. Driven out of Paris by Napoleon, the Lausanne-born Constant Constant established a highly influential think-tank in Coppet with Germaine de Staël. He would contribute to rethinking democracy after the turmoil of the Napoleonic Wars.
