A new method for detecting jumping genes

A discovery by an EPFL team concerning transposable elements, also known as transposons or jumping genes, could play a crucial role when it comes to the care of certain diseases. These elements make up more than half of human DNA and are capable of moving around the genome. The scientific team has succeeded in improving the detection of these transposons using ancestral genomes.
