The boundary between fact and myth has always been a matter of debate. But what's interesting is the recovery of diverse elements stitched together to create a historical narrative. When nation-states were being built in the 19th century, the "national narrative" became central. Switzerland, too, had to create a unifying past onto which a host of idealized images were grafted.
