Drilling the Ivrea-Verbano zonE (DIVE): unlocking the Earth's secrets

We take a look at a rather unusual project by the little name of "DIVE" (Drilling the Ivrea-Verbano zonE). Orchestrated by the University of Lausanne, the aim is to drill through the Earthʹs crust to the Earthʹs mantle in order to extract rock cores. These little "pieces of Earth" are brimming with big secrets that scientists the world over are eager to discover.
