Deep drilling does not cause earthquakes

Is it possible to drill a geothermal well at a depth of 3,000 metres without triggering an earthquake? In collaboration with the University of Florence and the Italian National Research Council (CNR), researchers from the University of Geneva (UNIGE) monitored the drilling of a geothermal well in Italy. They found for the first time that the drilling had not caused any major seismic disturbances.
