Doctors will be able to prescribe medical cannabis directly

The Federal Council wants to facilitate access to medical cannabis. Until now, it was necessary to go through an exceptional authorization issued by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). In 2019, the FOPH distributed 3,000 authorizations, notably for cancer and multiple sclerosis patients. In Switzerland more than 100,000 people use therapeutic cannabis.
