The crèche and children's immune systems

The crèche is a form of childcare that socializes babies. But they also usually share many germs. During the first year in this type of institution, babies are very often ill. This would be a blessing in disguise: the babies' immune systems would be stimulated, making them less sick than other children. But are things as simple as that?
