Better diagnosis of sepsis in children

Every year, almost 3 million children around the world die from sepsis, which often originates from a serious infection. Yet in newborns and children under 5 years of age, it is not so easy to diagnose this type of infection accurately and quickly. An international study published in the American journal JAMA, in which the University Hospital of Zurich is participating, provides new diagnostic criteria for better detection.
