Why do we sleep less as we get older?

The older we get, the less sleep we get. There's no denying it, but there are many reasons for it. Apnea, cataracts, sleep fragmentation, loss of day/night rhythm... so many factors that reduce the time and quality of sleep for seniors. And yet, older people complain less of fatigue than younger people.
