Two children is not bad!

Over the past twenty years or so, our societies have gone from a baby boom to a collapse in the number of children per family from the mid-sixties onwards, stabilizing at an average of 1.5 children per family at the turn of the seventies. What are the reasons for this rapid and profound transformation of family intimacy?
