Transcranial direct current stimulation involves positioning two electrodes on the skull and passing a weak current through them. This therapy makes the neurons crossed by the current either hyper-excitable or hypo-excitable, depending on what lʹon wishes to achieve. Used against depression, it improves patientsʹ mood, but requires a trip to the hospital several times a week for sessions.
