"The super history of supermarkets in Switzerland: the Coop

La Coop, for 'cooperation'. A name that was not chosen by chance, since it describes the way the company is organized, in the form of a cooperative. The 'cooperative' movement was born out of the labor movements in England in the 18th century. But it was in the 19th century that this model developed enormously, notably with consumer cooperatives in Switzerland and the beginnings of the Coop.
