Revolution in brain imaging

It is astrocytes, cells of the nervous system, and not neurons, that are at the origin of the metabolic signals used in brain imaging. This discovery could, in time, change the detection and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's.
