A new legal framework for robots

They're everywhere: robots in schools, robots in homes, robots in stores, robots in your bed, robots here, robots there... and it's only just beginning! In Switzerland, however, robots have no legal status. They're not people, and they're not animals either. But they're not quite mere objects, since they can learn, interact with us and make decisions on our behalf.
