Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, two Swiss for an extraterrestrial Nobel Prize

In October 1995, Michel Mayor, a professor at the University of Geneva, and his doctoral student Didier Queloz announced the discovery of the first planet outside our solar system, 51 Pegasi b, an announcement that was to spark a veritable "Copernican revolution" among astrophysicists.
