Green versus green: The Coffrane fattening hall

Since February, an impressively large feedlot has been under construction in Coffrane (NE). The nearly 100-metre-long building will house over 600 bulls. Opponents denounce the building as a meat factory and an ecological contradiction in terms. Defenders, however, have no shortage of environmental arguments: local meat produced with local corn, manure recycled on site. Beyond the local conflict, this hall poses questions for Swiss agriculture.
