Digital, the new haven of the fairytale world

Local legends are full of elves, forest spirits and other white ladies. The Cartesian Western world has almost completely discarded this magical little people with whom we cohabited for centuries. But now these figures of the marvelous are making a comeback in the digital age: the trolls of social networks, the demons that keep certain operating systems running. How can we explain the migration from forests to machines of this imaginary bestiary?
