Is compassion for migrants on the wane?

In September 2015, the image of little Aylan, a Kurdish child fleeing the Syrian conflict, went around the world and led to an immense solidarity movement. Today, however, a year after the publication of this image, the balance sheet is disappointing, as if the compassion raised by this image had worn out.
