Close-up on intelligent fabrics with multiple functions

Researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) have come up with a quick and easy way to manufacture super-elastic, ultra-high-performance multi-material fibers. It involves a network of highly sensitive sensors. The invention can be used to manufacture intelligent textiles and novel medical implants.
