Cheating at school

Let he or she who has never cheated cast the first stone. At school, in the gymnasium or at university, cheating exists, then and now. But why cheat? Out of shame at being seen as ignorant? Out of brazenness, out of defiance, out of greed? And why do we find it less difficult to break the rules when we are in a group?
