Boys receive more pocket money than girls

A Halifax Bank study of pocket money given to English children shows that boys receive 12% more than girls, from the age of 8. The Equality Act stipulates, among other things, equal pay for equal work. Does the difference in pay perceived in childhood foreshadow the 15% shortfall that still affects women on the job market today?
