Why is Ritalin such a success?

Between 2017 and 2021, the prescription of ritalin increased by 50% in Switzerland. This psychostimulant is prescribed to people suffering from attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, or ADHD. This disorder affects around 5% of children and often persists into adulthood. How to explain this ritalin boom?
