Why capitalism (again)?

Capitalism is regularly called into question. It is accused of increasing social inequality, and more recently, of leading to the depletion of natural resources. But capitalism is resisting; in fact, it seems to be stronger than ever. Why is it still the driving force of our societies? What advantages does it bring?
