When densification extends to residential areas

Single-family homes with their own gardens, neatly trimmed lawns, gates and cedar hedges: Switzerland's villa zones are undergoing radical change. It, too, needs to be densified, a consequence of the law on land use planning. Geneva and Villars-sur-Glâne in the canton of Fribourg, for example, are embarking on this highly complex exercise, in the face of often reluctant villa owners.
