What is our relationship with our bodies in today's postmodern society?

In the light of the growing hybridization between human beings and technologies, particularly through genetic modifications, transplants or prostheses, what happens to our individuality when the body is transformed into a body-object and, as a result, is likely to become a modifiable, even consumable product?
