For the first time, the seven Letters on Literature , which Walter Benjamin wrote to Max Horkheimer from 1937 to 1940, have been translated and published in French. These letters analyze the literary, and inevitably political, current affairs of the time. Benjamin writes about Claudel and Bachelard, as well as Cocteau, Rougemont, Ramuz, Nizan, Leiris and Caillois.
