Playing dead instead of making love!

The University of Zürich has carried out a surprising study on Aeshna juncea, large, rather mountainous dragonflies. The researchers found that, unlike other dragonflies, the male does not accompany the female after mating. The female displays an extraordinary attitude: she goes into a state of thanatosis, i.e. survival behavior against male pressure.
