The plant that hears

A plant can pick up the sounds of its predators. We already knew that. What we didn't know, however, was that the Lady's Slipper can "hear" the sound of nibbling. This is a sound with an amplitude of 0.00254 mm. This vibration triggers the development of toxicity (glucosinolate and anthocyanin) in the leaves.
