Pierre Bourdieu, thinker of domination

Deceased suddenly at the age of 72, Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) left his mark on the sociological and political thought of the last third of the 20th century in France. His major essays such as "La Distinction", "Le Sens pratique", "La Misère du monde" or his pamphlet "Sur la télévision" made him known and appreciated far beyond academic circles.
